Character Creation Overhaul

The latest update to the Accursed Folio (Player's Guide) focuses on a full rework of character creation. This version contains the four Physiologies: Crodon, Orsen, Mauveri, and Human, along with a new Origins section that defines each character’s starting gear and Aspect advantages.

You’ll also find a clear, step-by-step example of assigning Aspects using cards. My goal is to include plenty of examples throughout the book so that Sworne feels accessible to new tabletop players, while still offering clarity for experienced GMs who haven’t worked with card-driven systems before.

You’ll notice there’s still some empty space in a few layouts; that’s intentional. Those areas are reserved for art once the core text is fully locked in.

From here, I’ll be turning my focus to Combat, reorganizing that section to match the new structure and ensuring there’s space for both rules and visual examples that teach the system at a glance.

You may also spot a terminology change: I’m no longer using “Spells.” They’ve been replaced by Blade Works and Magic Works, or simply Works. Every Forsworne has access to the same tools; there’s no divide between “martial” and “caster” archetypes. The difference lies in how you build your character and express that power.

My long-term goal is 20 Works, each with six levels of success to reflect Sworne’s flexible, card-based resolution. Balancing them so that every option feels viable is the next major step.
